At Nature Friends, we believe in the power of community partnerships to enhance our educational experiences for children who may not get the opportunities in a traditional school setting. Our connections include:

  • Local Farms and Ranches: Collaborating with farmers allows us to teach children about agriculture, animal husbandry, and sustainable practices while providing real-world learning opportunities.
  • Environmental Organizations: Partnering with local environmental groups helps us promote conservation efforts and provide expert insights on ecosystems and wildlife.
  • Nature Centers and Parks: Working with nature centers and parks allows us to access educational resources, guided tours, and specialized programs that deepen children's understanding of their local environment.
  • Experts and Professionals: Connecting with professionals in fields such as ecology, biology, and environmental science enriches our educational programs, giving kids the chance to learn from those with real-world experience.

These partnerships help us create a rich learning environment, fostering a deeper connection to nature and the community for the families we serve.

 

Earth Day City Park Cleanups

We work with the Keep Las Cruces Beautiful Initiative to cleanup The City of Las Cruces parks. 

Arbor Day Tree Planting

We worked with the New Mexico Forestry Division and the City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department to plant trees along the Rio Grande River.

Rock Mural Completion

We volunteered with local artist Kathy Morrow to help complete her wildlife inspired rock mural at the NMSU Golf Course.

Fisheries Biologist Talk

We visited New Mexico Game & Fish to have a hands-on learning experience with native hides, skulls, and animal specimens and learn what conservation officers and biologists do in Southern NM.

Morrow Farms 

We visited this family-owned farm in Hatch to learn about growing watermelons, beans and peppers and how their farm serves local communities.

Snake & Native Species Encounter

We got hands-on with native snake species with reptile expert and passionate educator, Shelby Gillette from Shelby's Critter Corner.
